Medical Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist - Laboratory
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Collects blood samples from patients using proper
tools and judgement to obtain optimum specimens
while minimizing discomfort and hazard for the
patient.
• Practice proper patient identification.
• Label vials with patient required data such as name,
date, and time.
• Obtain necessary specimens from patients using
established laboratory techniques.
• Collect and process specimens through LIS system for
test done in-house.
• Transport all specimen samples to a nearby
laboratory when needed.
• Centrifuge blood samples.
• Expected to work with a large number of patients
varying in age and health status.
• Be friendly, courteous, and sympathetic when it
comes to working with patients.
• Keep phlebotomy cart/station well organized and
clean at all times.
• Practice infection control standards at all times
when working with patients and equipment.
• Disinfect/clean laboratory areas.
• Inventory supplies and restock as needed.
• Performs duties as assigned.
• Performs clerical duties: charting, filling,
answering phone, etc.
