Biography:
Karen is originally from Hazlehurst, MS. where she attended Copiah-Lincoln Community College for her Associate Degree in Nursing graduating with honors in 1998. She later attended University of Mississippi Medical Centers accelerated nursing program receiving her Master of Science in Nursing in their Family Nurse Practitioner program graduating with honors in 2016.
As a RN, Karen spent a majority of her career in home health. Helping others to recover in the comfort of their own home surrounded by their loved ones was life changing. Lifelong friendships were made but most importantly, how important family and support is in the healing process. She began her NP career working at GA Carmichael in Canton MS in November of 2016. In July of 2017, she began working at Summit Family Medicine with Dr Jennifer Gholson in Summit,MS. Desiring to work closer to home, she started work with Copiah Medical Associates in October of 2021 where she is currently working today. Karen works in the Wesson Clinic and is also associated with Copiah County Medical Center in Hazlehurst, Ms.
In her spare time, Karen enjoys spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She currently has two grandsons and one granddaughter with a second granddaughter due in February. She and her husband David have four children: Koby (Steve), Becca (Lacy), Ben (Keela) and Justice. Karen is a member of the MS Board of Nursing, MS Association of Nurse Practitioners and American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She also enjoys traveling and hiking.
